6. February 14 is Valentine's Day - Read a romance, any type OR read a book with a heart on the cover (show us the cover).

7. February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day - Read a book with a main character whose name starts with R, A, or K (tell us the name) OR read a book someone lent you, gifted you, or you treated yourself to (it's good to be kind to yourself, too!)

8. February 22 is traditionally George Washington's Birthday. Remember how he chopped down a cherry tree and couldn't tell a lie about it? Read a book with a tree on the cover (show us the cover) OR a book with a generally honest character.

9. February 27 is Polar Bear Day - Read a book set in a cold climate OR a book with a predominantly white cover (show us the cover).

5. March 12, daylight savings time begins: First suggested by Benjamin Franklin and first adopted by Germany as a way to ‘save the light’…then why do we feel like we lose sleep!
Read a book that’s set in Germany, set in a different time (ie historical or future), involves time-travel, or has the word ‘save’ or ‘light’ anywhere in the title or series (Examples: Saving Grace by Julie Garwood or a Twilight Series book by Stephanie Meyer).

6. March 13, Jewel Day: In many societies jewelry is worn as a way of reflecting one's status in society…something beautiful. Read a book that has any kind jewelry on the cover or a book that you would consider a ‘beautiful love story.’

7. March 19, Let’s Laugh Day: Read a book considered humorous/funny

8. March 23, Make up your Own Holiday Day: Read a book with any holiday included in the storyline or if you can’t find one…read a book that you would read while ‘on holiday’.

9. March 28, Something ‘on a stick’ Day: Read a book that has anything on the cover that could be considered ‘a stick’ or one that includes cooking as part of the story line ie chef/bakery.

5. Lawn and Garden Month: By spring we are all anxious to get outside and enjoy the nice weather and the rebirth of all things green. April is the perfect time to clean up your lawn and get it ready for summer.
READ a book with a lawn or garden or grass on the cover OR has a landscaping or gardener character (needs to have some import to the story – not where the gardener is mentioned in passing) OR a book with the letters L-A-W-N in the title.

6. National Karaoke Week: Celebrated the fourth week of April each year, it is simply a pure celebration of this unique form of entertainment that offers a chance for everyday people to sing (often badly) and become their favorite musical artists!
READ a book with a character that likes to sing or perform in some way OR a book where music is important to the story OR a book with a bar/pub type setting (where karaoke often occurs).

7. April 3 - World Party Day: Created in 1996 with the premise that humans have the right to joy and peace through social positivity and fun. A basic concept of this day, is that peace is not the opposite of war. Rather, "Party" is the true opposite. This day is intended to be a synchronized, worldwide day of partying. You can celebrate this day partying in any way you'd like, alone, or in groups. Or by reading a book!
READ a book where a party or other festive event takes place OR read a book with a 9 or 6 in the publish date.

8. April 9 - Name Yourself Day: This is your chance to give yourself whatever name you'd like...for a day. Participating is simple and easy. Go ahead, give it a try. Give yourself a cool and catchy nickname. Once you've selected your name, you've gotta communicate it to all your family and friends. This could prove to be the hard part. It will likely take time for your new name to catch on. Don’t worry, you can use it again next year!
READ a book with a character who has a name that matches any of your names (first, last or middle) OR where the character has a name you WISH you had OR where the author’s initials are the same as yours (any order).

9. April 27 - Take Your Daughter to Work: Acting on research that showed adolescent girls received less attention than boys, this day was initiated in 1993 by the Ms. Foundation for Women. The intention was to give girls additional direct attention and an insight into work world opportunities available to them.

4. May, the month of Lily of the Valley -flower: Lily of the Valley is a beautiful and sweetly scented, but highly poisonous flower, and it is native plant in the Northern Hemisphere of Asia and Europe. The flowers are bell-shaped and white in colour.
- Read a book where flowers are important part of the story, or a book with/flowers or something white on the cover. Or read a book where a beautiful cover conceals something unexpected. The cover in this can be the actual book cover or a person in the story who has an unexpected secret.

5. May 1st, International Workers' Day: The International Worker's day is a celebration of labourers and the working classes, and its roots are located to the 1880's. In Finland mead and doughnuts are the typical celebration food.
- Read a book where someone works with their hands, or a book which focuses on some celebration with specific food. Or read a historical romance.

6. May 6th, International No Diet Day: As fun as it sound, this day has a very meaningful purpose: to help people appreciate themselves for what they are and to appreciate the body they have.
- Read a book from your favourite genre.

7. May 9th, Lost Sock Memorial day: We all have those, unpaired socks waiting for their counterpart. This day is a memorial of all those lost socks in there, who started their trip to the washing machine to never come back.
- Read a book where someone is searching for their counterpart, or read a book with colourful cover. Or read a book with odd number in the page count.

8. May 13th, Frog Jumping Day: The background of this day is in the Mark Twain's first short story: “Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog”, published in 1865.
- Read a book with green on the cover or a book where nature is important part of the story. Or read a classic.

9. May 29th, Paper Clip Day: Everybody knows those little steel wire, two-loop instruments, which helps you to keep your paperwork in order. All thanks to the Samuel B. Fay, who was the first person to patent the paper clip, in 1867.
- Read a book where all things work out, or a book with a secretary in it. Or read a book with jack of all trades kind of person.

5. World Population Day: July 11 -- It is estimated that the world's population could reach 9.7 billion people by 2050, and over 11 billion by 2100. With that many of us, one wonders if this population level is sustainable? With all the issues related to these billions upon billions of people, World Population Day was established to raise awareness of global population issues.
--Read a book that touches on any human rights issue, a book that involves a billionaire or a MC of significant wealth, or a book with more than one person on the cover.

6. "Vive la France!", Bastille Day: July 14 -- Symbolizes the end of the constitutional monarchy, and the beginning of the democratic republic of France. To Frenchmen, Bastille Day is viewed as their liberation.
--Read a book set in France or another Country other than the one you live in or a book that includes a royal/monarch MC (at any level) or a page count that includes a 1 or 4.

7. National Ice Cream Day: July 16 -- It's only fitting that ice cream be given it's own special day. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month. He also established National Ice Cream Day as the third Sunday in the month.
--Read a book with the word 'ice' or 'cream' any where in the title, series, or author's name...example "Twice Tempted" or Anne Rice. You can also read a book with ice cream on the cover, a book by your favorite author or a book that would be 'special' to you.

8. International Day of Friendship: July 30 -- Paraguay first celebrated this day on an national level on July 30, 1958. Other countries with early celebrations include: several countries in South America, Bangladesh, India, and Malaysia. In 2011, the United Nations declared this an official international day.
--Read a book that includes MCs who are close friends or a book published in 2011.

9. Mutt's Day: July 31 -- Mutts deserve their day in the spotlight too! By definition a mutt, sometimes called a "Half-breed", is a dog that is of mixed breed.

6. August 1 - National Mountain Climbing Day: National Mountain Climbing Day was established in honor of Bobby Matthews and Josh Madigan for successfully climbing the 46 High Peaks of New York State’s Adirondack Mountains.

7. August 6 - Wiggle Your Toes Day: This day was established to encourage you to give your little piggy toes some exercise. Those ten extremities at the ends of your feet, are crying out for a little freedom. Let 'em free!!
READ a book that shows feet or toes on the cover OR read a book with a 'wiggly' character (your interpretation) OR read a book with 10 in the publication date.

8. August 19 - Aviation Day: The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, were pioneer aviators in the United States. Orville was the first person to successfully fly an airplane. His first flight was December 17, 1903 at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This inaugural flight was soon to change the skies forever.

5. 5th Sept - Be Late For Something Day. Be Late For Something Day reminds us that sometimes, just sometimes, it’s ok to let things slide and not quite be on time.
- Read a book that could make you either stay up late or be late for some appointment.

6. 6th Sept - Read a book day. Reading has been proved to lower stress, so...
- Read a book which relaxes you and/or takes you away from all the stress of the actual world.

7. 15th Sept - International dot day. This special day has been invented to encourage people to harness their creativity.
- Read a book where there are a dot or dots in the cover (i.e. a dot on lowercase title letters i and j, exclamation point dot).

8. 20th Sept - Punch day. The word "punch" actually means "five", a word originating from the Hindustani word panch. It celebrates the traditional punch base recipe of five key ingredients: alcohol (usually spirits), lemon (or other fruits), sugar, water, and tea (or other spices, e.g. cinnamon).
- Read a spicy story or a book where there is a number 5 in either release day or in the page number.

9. 25th Sept - One-Hit wonder day. This term was established by music journalist Steve Rosen back in 1990, and it means those musicians who have one hit and then nothing more.
- Read a standalone book or a book where the music plays some major part in the story.

6. Oct 17 - Wear Something Gaudy Day: Read a book with a character that is over-the-top or flamboyant, or who enjoys clothing and/or dressing well, or a book with a bright, colorful cover.

7. Oct 24 - United Nations Day: Read a book set in a country other than where you live.

8. Oct 28 - Make a Difference Day: Read a book with a MC that helps people...either because they are in an occupation that serves the public (medicine, law enforcement, firefighter, etc) or just to be nice.

9. Oct 31 - Halloween: Read a book that is shelved as Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy, or a book with a child in the storyline, or with something sweet on the cover (and yes, you can interpret that however you wish!)
